Biography
Dylan Prentner is an up-and-coming classical guitarist from Groningen, The Netherlands. In his youth he had already won numerous competitions and awards, such as first prize in the youth category of the Antwerpen International Guitar Competition 2016, first prize in the youth category of the Nordhorn Guitar Festival 2017 and finalist in the youth category of the Borguitar 2017. Most recently he was a finalist in the 2022-2023 Grachtenfestival Concours.
Dylan’s career has already expanded internationally, having played concerts and festivals in the Netherlands, Norway and Poland. He has been invited to perform in a multitude of international concert series, including Gitaristenpodium Zwolle’ (07/06/2024) organized by the highly regarded Dutch Guitar Foundation, he gave multiple performances at the ‘Grachtenfestival’ in Amsterdam (August 2023), including a radio broadcast, the Polish series ‘Nad dachami Poznania’ (07/09/2023), ‘Atriumconcerten’ in Enkhuizen (17/12/2023), as well as performances at numerous editions of the Enkhuizen Gitaarfestival.
Dylan first started playing guitar at the age of nine, and at the age of fourteen he was already admitted to the Sweelinck academy at the Conservatory of Amsterdam. After a year, he decided to further his studies with the late Sabrina Vlaškalić at the Prins Claus Conservatoire, where he continued to graduate his bachelor’s degree with Kristina Vårlid.
More than anything, Dylan is fascinated by going where nobody else has gone. Furthering his studies with Kristina Vårlid, Dylan spends his efforts on exploring the extent of the sounds that can be found in the guitar and using them to tell his own unique stories through diverse repertoire. He is willing to take any risk in order to express himself, and to draw his audiences to new and interesting places.
